Yandell Henderson (1873-1944), American physiologist. Henderson spent his career at Yale University where he studied respiration and circulation, particularly the role of carbon dioxide. He introduced the administration of a mixture of oxygen and carbon dioxide for resuscitating patients and as a treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning. During World War II he improved the design of gas masks.
