Japan: Lady Oichi (1547 - 14 June 1583), wife of Azai Nagamasa and Shibata Katsuie. Hanging scroll painting, c. 1580s-1590s. Oichi or Oichi-no-kata, also known as Ichihime, Odani-no-kata and Hideko, was a female historical figure from the late Sengoku period. She is known mainly as the mother of three daughters who would become prominent for their connections - Yodo Dono, Ohatsu and Oeyo. Oichi was the younger sister of Oda Nobunaga. Oichi was equally renowned for her beauty and her resolve. She was descended from the Taira and Fujiwara clans.
