Rush To Fill Up With Petrol -- A long line of cars waits at a London petrol pump May 26 to fill up with unrationed petrol. British motorists - rationed with petrol for ten years - rushed to the petrol pumps, today May 26 to fill up with fuel following the earlier announcement that rationing of petrol had ceased as a result of a deal with two United State oil companies. British motorists have been receiving a basic ration sufficient for 90 miles of motoring monthly but this was to have been increased to 180 miles monthly from June 1. The price of petrol was increased in Britain's last budget from 2s/3D to 3s/- per gallon. May 26, 1950. (Photo by Associated Press Photo).
