Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a seagrass (Zostera sp.) stalk. This seagrass grows at a depth of up to ten meters on the seabed. The dead stalks tear off and drift to the beach. Dried seagrass may be used to insulate buildings as it has flame retardant properties. Magnification: x400 when printed at 15cm wide.
