Light micrograph of normal human epididymis. The epididymis is a structure adjacent to the testis, through which sperm passes on its way to the vas deferens and ultimately the urethra. The epididymis consists of a convoluted duct with an epithelium (inner surface lining) made up of cells with basal nuclei (dark purple oval) and columnar arranged cytoplasm (lighter purple above the nuclei). The cells have stereocilia, the hair-like structures protruding into the luminal space (light pink) in the duct. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x400 when printed at 10cm wide.
