Erythema ab igne rash on the back of a 61 year old female patient. This rash is caused by repeated exposure to strong heat. The heat causes capillaries under the skin to dilate, causing the skin to flush. Over time this causes hypopigmentation of the skin. The area of skin affected may also be dry and itchy. This condition is also known as reticulated erythema or toasted skin syndrome.
