Fresh horse chestnut foliage in spring. This tree is native to the Balkan Peninsula and Turkey. It is common in parks, gardens and streets. Mature horse chestnut trees grow to a height of around 40 metres and can live for up to 300 years. The distinctively large leaves have several serrated leaflets spreading from a central stem. The signature glossy red-brown conkers from this plant appear in autumn. Photographed in April, in Dorset, UK.
