Groin of a patient with an abdominoscrotal hydrocele (AHS). This is a rare condition where there is a collection of fluid in the scrotum, here in the right scrotum (left), that originates from ascites, the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Ascites is most often a complication of liver disease, but may be due to cancers of the abdominal organs or heart failure. Treatment is of the underlying condition, but diuretics and draining the fluid can be used to reduce the ascites.
