Gemini 8 training, 1960s. US astronaut David R. Scott (born 1932) practicing for the planned Gemini 8 extra-vehicular activity (EVA). Scott is on an air-bearing floor in Building 4 of the Manned Spacecraft Center, Houston, Texas, USA. He is wearing the Hand-Held Maneuvering Unit for use during the EVA. The Gemini 8 mission took place from 16 to 17 March 1966, and was flown by NASA astronauts David R. Scott and Neil A. Armstrong. Because the mission was aborted due to an emergency while in orbit, the planned EVA never took place. Photographed on 1 February 1966.
