The lunar underwing (Omphaloscelis lunosa) moth is a member of the Noctuidae family. This is a highly variable species ranging from yellowish orange to dark brown forms. The flight period is August to October with a single brood each year. It is found throughout the UK with scattered distribution in Europe. The larval food plants are various grasses. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
