Raynaud's phenomenon in the hands of a 64 year old female patient with undifferentiated connective tissue disease (UCTD). This is a term used to describe the condition in people who have symptoms which suggest a systemic autoimmune disorder or connective tissue disease but which are not specific enough to meet the usual criteria for a diagnosis of a defined connective tissue disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus (lupus) or rheumatoid arthritis. A symptom of UCTD is Raynaud's phenomenon, a common form of vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels) in which the arteries of the fingers or toes suddenly narrow in response to cold or stress causing extreme colour changes.
