Aldous Huxley (1894-1963), British writer and novelist. He graduated from Balliol College at the University of Oxford with an undergraduate degree in English literature. His bibliography spans dozens of books including novels and non-fiction works, essays, narratives, scripts and poetry. He is best known for his 1932 novel 'Brave New World' a dystopian vision of the technologically advanced future, and his 1954 novel 'The Doors of Perception' which elaborates on his own psychedelic experience with mescaline. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature nine times. He spent the latter part of his life in the United States, living in Los Angeles from 1937 until his death. By the end of his life, Huxley was widely acknowledged as one of the prominent intellectuals of his time. He is also the brother of the evolutionary biologist Julian Huxley.
