Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of New Zealand: This is to certify that W C Chambers was admitted a member of the Otago Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants of New Zealand on the 23rd day of December 1889. Signed M J Mack, A brightly-coloured certificate showing at the top three seated female allegorical figures of Wisdom, Justice and Truth. The whole certificate is bordered in an architectural arch of green marble background with gold highlights, and there are inset scenes of steam trains, railway workshops, a stationmaster, signalman and clerks. In the centre is the logo of a handshake and the motto 'All men are brothers'
