Light micrograph of a haematoxylin and eosin-stained section of a gallbladder showing dysplasia. Dysplasia is a precursor lesion and may develop into invasive cancer. Dysplasia does not produce clinical symptoms and is an incidental finding. The normal epithelium lining the gallbladder is replaced by atypical pleomorphic cells that may be disorganised. The degree of atypia is graded as low-grade or high-grade.
