Light micrograph of colon crypts, cut in cross-section and stained with Alcian Blue histochemical stain. The crypts contain goblet cells with cytoplasmic mucin that stains light blue. The goblet cells are arranged radially, like the petals of flowers. The nuclei of the colon crypt cells are dark pink. There is loose stroma (white areas) around the colon crypts. Magnification: 200x when printed at 10cm.
