Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of Jupiter and two of its moons, Ganymede (left) and Io (right). Jupiter is a gas giant planet, the fifth planet from the Sun and is the largest in the solar system. The Great Red Spot, a region containing an anticyclonic storm, is visible. Jupiter's bands of colour are created by differences in the thickness and height of ammonia ice clouds. Their flow in opposite directions at various latitudes is a result of differing atmospheric pressure. Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system, and is larger than the planet Mercury. Photographed on 26 June 2019.
