Mercury (on the right) and Jupiter in a close conjunction just 1.3¢X apart but very low in the west in the evening twilight, on March 27, 2023. Taken from home in southern Alberta. Mercury was ascending higher each night, beginning its best evening apparition for the year, while Jupiter was dropping out of sight ending its months-long appearance. Jupiter was magnitude -2 this night, while Mercury was -1.4.
