Fine Tuscan hat, bordered with narrow black velvet, trimmed with white feathers...with a white gauze veil. Fig. 2. Walking Dress. Costume of drab foulard with dark grey stripes; the ornaments on the paletot are in green passementerie. Small pink crape bonnet and strings; the copious gauzed veil now ? la mode almost entirely concealing the chapeau. Fig. 3. Dress for a Carriage Promenade...this costume, including the jupon, is in pale orange linos. The skirt is drawn up, and attached with pattes fastened by buttons; the corsage is round, high-necked, and provided with a wide waistband. Small paletot, of the same material as the dress, and without any ornament. Tuscan hat, trimmed on one side with a tuft of corn; long light-blue gauze veil. Fig. 4. Dress for a Little Girl. Pale buff poplin frock, trimmed round the undulating edge of the skirt and round the outline of the vest with striped magenta velvet. The ornament on the skirt itself is in black satin. Chapeau estelle, decorated with magenta ribbons and a garland of marguerites. High-heeled black kid boots. From "Illustrated London News", 1865.
