NASAs Psyche spacecraft (cone top of rocket) atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launching from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA on 13 October 2023. The Psyche mission aims to reach an asteroid of the same name found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It is scheduled to reach this asteroid in summer 2029, when it will begin to take photos and collect data about its composition. The metal-rich composition of the asteroid could indicate that it is part of a planetesimal, the foundation of a rocky planet such as our own.
