Apple (Malus domestica 'Bardsey') showing ripening fruit. This rare apple variety was brought back into cultivation from a single tree on Ynys Enlli, Bardsey Island, off the coast of North Wales. The tree was discovered near the remains of the island's 13th century abbey, possibly a descendant of trees in the monastic orchard.
