Molecular model of immunoglobulin M (IgM), an antibody that responds to antigens during the initial exposure of an infection. IgM is produced by B cell white blood cells, and is the largest antibody in the circulatory system. It consists of five monomers covalently bonded to form a pentamer. An extra chain, the J chain (dark blue), helps bind the pentamer together.
