Salivary alpha-amylase/ cortisol ratio test. This test measures the ratio of alpha-amylase, an enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates, to cortisol, a hormone that is involved in the bodys stress response, in the saliva. It is used to assess the bodys response to stress and monitor certain medical conditions, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd).
