Sea slug gills, close-up. Sea slugs are also known as nudibranchs. This is the sea slug Jorunna rubescens. It has a group of seven gills in a circle on its upper body. The gills are the breathing structures, and their exposed position gives rise to the name for these marine mollucs, which means 'naked gills'. Photographed in the Indian Ocean, off Reunion Island.
