Charcoal production site. Pile of wood that has been constructed and which will be covered with turf and clay before being lit to produce charcoal in a slow and controlled burning process. Charcoal is a form of carbon produced by burning wood in little or no oxygen. Photographed in April 2009 in the Dotan Valley, in Samaria, Palestine (within Israel's West Bank).
