Standing Buddha, Indonesia, East Java, 8th century, bronze, gold. Although this figure was found on Java, it was probably made elsewhere and exported to Indonesia. The drapery folds of the monk's robe are characteristic of Buddha figures from India or Sri Lanka. The (ushnisha), or protuberance on the head, a standard feature in representation of the Buddha, is a later addition in gold. Photo via Newscom
