Homo floresiensis. Illustration of Flores Man (Homo floresiensis), based on fossils found in 2003 in Liang Bua cave, Flores, Indonesia. The fossils were dated to between 95,000 and 13,000 years ago. This hominin was very small, just over a metre tall, and is thought to be a descendant of Homo erectus that underwent island dwarfism. It is thought to have become extinct around 12,000 years ago and therefore co-existed with modern humans (Homo sapiens).
