Light micrograph of the composite flower of a daisy (Bellis perennis). The centre of a daisy is made up of many small flowers. The Y-shaped structures are pistils, the female reproductive parts. The pistil just right of centre has pollen grains (the male sex cell) on it. The stamen, the male reproductive structures that produce the pollen grains, are near the base of the flower. Magnification: x40 when printed at 15cm wide.
