Illustration of Platybelodon, which was an early relative to modern-day elephants. It lived during the Miocene Epoch (around 15-4 million years ago) and ranged over Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. The Platybeledon could reach a height of 3 metres and 1,800 kilograms.
