Illustration of a Guanlong dinosaur. This was a small theropod that lived 159-154 million years ago, during the late Jurassic period in what is now China. At 3 metres in length, the Guanlong dinosaur is the earliest Tyrannosaurus-like dinosaur. It was a carnivore and had an air-filled crest (red) on its head.
