Lenticular galaxy IC 4653, NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image. IC 4653 is about 80 million light-years from Earth. The diffuse blue colour is light from hot, young stars being formed. The shape of lenticular galaxies is somewhere between that of elliptical and spiral galaxies. Also shown are a number of bright foreground stars.
