Banded centipede (Lithobius variegatus) resting on rotting wood in a woodland habitat. Banded centipede are large reddish or brown species of centipede, distinctive by the bands on their legs. They live under stones and rotting wood feeding on other invertebrates such as woodlice, often tackling prey much larger than itself. are found across the UK and parts of Europe.
