Bronze shieldbug (Troilus luridus) resting on rotting wood in a woodland habitat. This predatory species of shield bug is distinguishable by the orange band on its antennae. The bronze shieldbug is mostly brown or bronze in colour with stripes on the abdomen edge. This species is one of four carnivorous shield bug species in the UK. It is usually found in broad leaved woodland. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in January.
