Oak eggar moth (Lasiocampa quercus) resting on a branch in a garden habitat. The flight period is May to September with single generation each year. The large distinctive moth of the Lasiocampidae family is found throughout Europe and the Palearctic ecozone. Its larval foodplant is mainly heather and bilberry. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in August.
