Large solar prominence (left) seen on the Sun's solar surface. These are jets of plasma being ejected from the Sun's surface by turbulence in its magnetic field. The large prominence could reach 84,000 kilometres high, 6.5 times larger than Earth's diameter. The granular appearance of the solar surface is also captured in this image taken using hydrogen-alpha filter. Photographed from Alqueva Dark Sky Reserve, Portugal, on 25th May 2020.
