Patient undergoing an ankle brachial pressure index (ABPI) test. ABPI is calculated by dividing the systolic blood pressure in the ankle by the pressure in the arm. This test is used to diagnose any narrowing or obstruction of the leg arteries, as well as to help diagnose peripheral artery disease (PAD). The lower the ratio calculated, the worse the arterial disease.
