Installation of one of the six cells, designed to hold the 1.82 metre mirrors of the Multiple Mirror Telescope (MMT). The cell was lowered into place at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, located on top of Mt. Hopkins, Arizona, USA. Photographed on 1978.
