The Queen Reviews the Police. Metropolitan policewomen marching in Hyde Park to-day. Ten thousand policemen and policewomen stood to attention in Hyde Park this afternoon to be reviewed by the Queen. Their dark blue uniforms and glearing buttons, segregated into 37 tightly-packed blocks, brought Londoners their first massed view of Britain's police Force for 19 years. It was in 1935 that Britain's Monarch last reviewed the Force. To-day there were 3,000 London police officers - 60 of them women and representatives from 157 other forces in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. July 14, 1954.
