Allies Use Sunken Ship As Pier An Allied cargo vessel discharges its war supplies at a pier built by U.S. Army Engineers stop an overturned ship in Naples harbor, on the west coast of Italy. The Germans, forced to retreat form Naples, capsized the Vessel which now serves as the base of a sturdy jetty that can withstand the weight of heavily loaded trucks.
