Stronghold by the Marsh - The Martyred Charles I rides above the swirling modern traffic of Trafalgar Square. In background are the modern South Africa House and the Church of St. Martin's-in-the Fields (parish church of Buckingham palace) with, extreme left, the ball surmounting the Coliseum theatre. The statue of Charles was recently brought back from its war-time hide-out. December 01, 1948.
