Eastern rock elephant shrew (Elephantulus myurus), also known as an eastern rock elephant sengi. These mammals have a long narrow snout which moves in a circular motion and is extremely sensitive. Although shrews resemble mice they are not rodents. Elephant shrews are omnivorous and need to consume large amounts of food each day in order to survive. All species of elephant shrew are thought to be monogamous, terrestrial and native to Africa. Photographed in Kimberley, South Africa.
