Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft image of the surface of the asteroid moonlet Dimorphos. This image was taken from approximately 12 kilometres from Dimorphos and two seconds before the spacecraft deliberately impacted with the moonlet in a test of whether such an impact would deflect an asteroid heading towards Earth. The area seen here is 31 metres across. Image taken by the Didymos Reconnaissance and Asteroid Camera for Optical navigation (DRACO) on 26th September 2022.
