Ambrose Gwinnett BIERCE (June 24; 1842 - January 11; 1914) American writer and journalist who; from his experience of war as a soldier; drew many inspirations for his hard; caustic and surreal stories at the same time. From his youth his natural propensity for sarcasm noir brought him the nickname "Bitter Bierce" throughout his career. His fortune as a writer began with "The Dictionary of the Devil" (1911) which was released in a first version in 1906 with the title "The vocabulary of the cynic". He died in mysterious circumstances during a reportage in Mexico. Portrait; illustration by Dariush Radpour; digital colored pencil drawing; 2020
