Poland; Lower Silesia; Klitczkow Castle: Neorenaissance style towers viewed from outside; History of Klitczkow Castle (Polish: Zamek Klitczkow; German: Schloss Klitschdorf) dates back to 1297; when a first fortified structure was built. In 1391; noble family von Rechenberg took over for three centuries. In 1585; the main part of the castle was built in Renaissance style. In 1767; the whole property went to Duke (Graf) Hans Christian zu Solms-Baruth. The noble family Solms-Baruth owned it until 1944. Frederick of Solms-Baruth (German: Friedrich Hermann zu Solms-Baruth) had got the castle in 1920; but was arrested after the failed attempt to kill Hitler; on 20th of July 1944. Solms-Baruth was member of the resistance organized in the Kreisau Circle (German: Kreisauer Kreis). Castle Kliczkow was extended in huge scale from 1881 onwards by Berlin architects Heinrich Kayser and Karl von Gro遠eim in styles of Neorenaissance and French Manierism. Most attractive is the theatre hall; built in 1810. Restoration to the hotel with spa of today was realized 1991 - 1999.
