Large wainscot moth (Rhizedra lutosa) . A large member of the noctuidae family, this moth is usually found in reed-bed and river habitats. It is common across the Palearctic region and is on the wing from August to October. The larvae feed on stems and roots of the common reed. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in September.
