Each particle (virion) consists of a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA, pink) core surrounded by an icosahedral capsid (yellow). Outside of this is a proteinaceous layer known as the tegument (green) and then a lipoprotein envelope (orange) containing glycoproteins (spikes).
