Cyclone Freddy northeast of Mauritius on 20th February 2023. Freddy formed near Indonesia on the 6th February and travelled across the Indian Ocean for 15 days before making landfall in Madagascar on 21st February. It moved across the island and made landfall twice in Mozambique before moving inland to Malawi and eventually dissipating on the 15th February. This made Freddy the longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded. Freddy was classified as a very intense tropical cyclone. It caused flooding and extensive damage as well as over 420 fatalities.
