Black and yellow garden spider Argiope aurantia wraps prey in silk extruded from its spinnerettes located at the end of its abdomen. This species is common throughout much of the U.S., southern Canada, Mexico, and Central America. As their name suggests, these spiders are often found in gardens. They can reach 75 mm across and are harmless to people.
