TILT up. CU. Interior: Organ and rose window above the west entrance. The Cathedral is in the High Gothic or Classical French style. It was built in the 13th century 1218_1269 to replace a previous Romanesque cathedral. UNESCO designated Amiens Cathedral a World Heritage Site in 1981. Architects: Robert de Luzarches, Thomas de Cormont, Renaud de Cormont. Financed by Alphonse Lemire and his wife, Massine de Hainaut, the first organs were installed between 1422 and 1429 against the inside wall of the facade. All that remains of this today is the wooden loft in the Flamboyant Gothic style. The large organ dates from 1549. It was restored in the 19th century by Aristide Cavaille_Coll 1811_1899, and again in 1938 by Marcel Dupre.
