PAN, LA. Daylight. This gate is also commonly known as Arch of the Gypsies and the Arch of San Isidro.It gave access to the Jewish Quarter of Avila, and it is believed that through this gate the Jews were expelled from the city of Avila. Alfonso VI ordered the construction of the fortification walls after his conquest of Avila in 1090. 14 meters high and as much as 3 meters thick, these walls have about 90 towers and 9 entrance gates. Avila is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
