TILT up, exterior, daylight. Water flowing in a fountain towards the central pool. Generalife Palace was the summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid Sultans of Granada. The palace and gardens were built during the reign of Muhammad III 1302_1309 and redecorated by the king Abu I_Walid Isma磇l 1313_1324. Throughout the Christian period the complex was remodeled several times. The present_day gardens were planned in 1931_1951 under architect Francisco Prieto Moreno. The central pools are in the shape of a cross, typical of many Muslim gardens. Alhambra was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1984.
